Verdane acquires Hylte Jakt och Lantman and Maskinklippet.se to create leading niche e-tailer in forestry, gardening, hunting & outdoor

Stockholm — Verdane Edda has acquired majority stakes in Maskinklippet.se, an e-tailer of professional machines and tools for forestry and gardening, and Hylte Jakt och Lantman, a retailer of forestry and gardening tools as well as outdoor accessories that include hunting gear. The companies will be merged with the goal of establishing a leading Nordic niche e-tailer, with potential for further add-on acquisitions.

Founded in 2000, Maskinklippet had revenues of 86 MSEK in 2017 and currently targets the Swedish B2B and B2C gardening and forestry market. Hylte Jakt och Lantman (Hylte), established in 1911, targets the market for hunting, forestry, garden machinery and outdoor accessories with sales in Sweden, Denmark and Finland. 2017 revenues stood at 217 MSEK.

Anders Carlsson, CEO of Hylte, will assume the role of CEO of the newly established group in addition to his current role. Stefan Olsson, CEO of Maskinklippet.se, will lead the group’s forestry offering.

“This is a very exciting time for both me, Stefan and our new merged team. The merger is a fantastic opportunity to strengthen our market offering and expand our business, and we look forward to working closely with the team at Verdane to make that happen”, says Anders Carlsson.

With long experience from the sector, a wide assortment and strong relationships with key suppliers, the new group’s partnership with Verdane is well-positioned to capture attractive growth opportunities in the Nordics driven by increasing online penetration in B2C as well as B2B markets.

“Both Hylte and Maskinklippet are at a stage where Verdane’s Nordic presence and experience from over 40 e-commerce investments, can help unlock significant potential. I look forward to working closely with Stefan and Anders to accelerate the growth of the group to build a Nordic market leader in their respective niches”, comments Daniel Ahlstrand, responsible at Verdane Edda Advisors for the investment.
